Meet Dr. Mark McCarthy

Mark McCarthy

Dr. McCarthy

As a dentist, I have been blessed with longevity and perseverance. I’ve been honored to treat patients of my parent’s generation and am honored to work on those patients’ children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren today
It has been my pleasure to treat all of them: to help each live fuller, happier, healthier lives, and to get to know them over the years.

After practicing for more than four decades, first in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps for three years and then in private practice in St. Louis, I still look forward to coming to the office. I enjoy meeting people who need us, setting goals, formulating treatment plans, and seeing these plans through to completion.

I truly feel blessed to be of service and to have the knowledge and skills necessary to help people with complex needs get healthy again.

Education

Since completing dental school in 1979, I’ve pursued numerous continuing education opportunities and attended seminars, lectures, and conferences. In addition, I have completed rigorous continuums at:

Our Office

Ours is a small practice: We work one-on-one with our patients and get to know each personally. We know their names, stories, and how to help them cope with dental fear or anxiety. We believe each of our patients is simply an extension of our own family.

Many dental offices offer technical skills, excellent knowledge, and modern equipment. We offer all three and we have the personal skills and commitment necessary to give you the smile you have been dreaming of!

Our office manager Nancy, chairside assistant Candace, and hygienist Sarah are all personable, compassionate, family-oriented caregivers.  They put each patient at ease by listening to the patient’s needs, understanding their treatment needs, and helping customize their treatment journey. They make our office a pleasant, supportive environment where patients learn we genuinely care.

Beyond the Practice

I grew up in the Skinker/DeBaliviere area and attended grade school, high school, college, and dental school, all in St. Louis. After three years in the U.S. Navy, home-ported in Southern California, I returned to my community and have lived in Glendale ever since.

Outside the office, time with family is important to me. I have three adult children, all married, and nine amazing grandchildren. I spend as much time as possible with the grandkids. I especially like going to their sporting events.

I’m happiest when I’m on a lake with a fishing pole in my hand. I have a basement full of tropical fish tanks at home, and in the backyard, I have waterfalls and three ponds that are home to dozens of koi fish and surrounded by plants and bushes.

Giving Back

For the past twelve years, I have tutored inner-city boys in sixth through eighth grade. For many of those years, I coached the school’s track team. For the past 30 years, I have taken care of the girl’s section of Boys Hope/Girls Hope providing them with all phases of general dentistry free of charge. I recently got involved with the Archdiocese of St. Louis, working as a volunteer on their new mobile dental unit treating underserved children in rural areas. I now have more time to give back and believe in making a hands-on difference, one child at a time.
